Next generation

The next generation Microsoft operating system, Windows Vista, is expected to be released in early 2007.  What will Windows Vista mean for you?  It will offer new levels of ease, security and reliability, a new interface, and simple ways to organize and search for information on your PC.

Welcome to the Express Upgrade to Windows Vista® from HP Program

If you purchase select models of a new HP or Compaq notebook or desktop system between October 26, 2006 and March 15, 2007, you may be eligible for an upgrade from your existing Microsoft Windows XP operating system to the new Windows Vista operating system. This upgrade will be available after Microsoft launches Windows Vista, currently scheduled for early 2007. Click here to learn more.

Today's HP Pavilion and Compaq Presario desktop and notebook PCs, as well as Digital Entertainment Centers, when properly configured, are considered Windows Vista Capable.  When purchasing a new PC, buy with confidence and look for PCs carrying the Windows Vista Capable logo.

At the same time, commercial desktop PCs, notebook PCs and workstations bearing the Windows Vista Capable logo will provide you with an excellent experience today and can be upgraded to Windows Vista when it becomes available.

And finally, HP plans to offer Windows Vista pre-loaded desktop PCs, notebook PCs and workstations, as well as Windows Vista compatible drivers for new and many existing printers, cameras and scanners at the time of launch and Vista-ready projectors.  We are also working closely with many internal teams and external partners to deliver best-in-class customer support and services to help ensure that your Windows Vista experience is as seamless as possible.

Not all Windows Vista features are available for use on all Windows Vista Capable PCs. All Windows Vista Capable PCs will run the core experiences of Windows Vista, such as innovations in organizing and finding information, security, and reliability. Some features available in premium editions of Windows Vista -- like the new Windows Aero™ user interface -- require advanced or additional hardware.
